Arouman marketplace homepage: category catalog, product search and delivery in French Guiana

Context

French Guiana's local economy has many shops with no structured online presence, and residents often rely on international sites with long delivery times. The goal was to build one shared, local marketplace instead of dozens of isolated shops.

Problem

Local shops were scattered across social media and physical stores, with no shared storefront, no online payment and no structured delivery solution.

Objectives

  • Bring the local offering together on a single platform
  • Offer fast delivery anywhere in French Guiana
  • Automate payments, commissions and payouts
  • Give each seller an independent storefront

Users

Customers looking for products delivered quickly in French Guiana, and sellers managing their shop, orders and revenue.

Proposed solution

An e-commerce platform with a categorized catalog (electronics, home, fashion, local groceries…), search, cart, online payment, fast delivery, and a dedicated space for each seller.

Architecture

Next.js application with server-side rendering for product page indexing, a PostgreSQL database, and split payments through a marketplace-style provider that handles multi-seller payouts.

Features

  • Multi-seller catalog by category
  • Product search and filters
  • Cart and secure online payment
  • Delivery anywhere in French Guiana
  • Seller portal with statistics
  • Order tracking and returns management

Technical choices

Server-side rendering was chosen so every product page is indexable by search engines — a decisive point for a marketplace. The commission system is configurable per category without a redeploy.

Challenges

Splitting payments across multiple sellers within a single order was the hardest part: each payment is split at the source, with full traceability for accounting.

Outcomes

Sellers get an online shop with no technical skills required, and customers get a unified local catalog with secure payment and fast delivery.

  • A single entry point for the local offering
  • Automated payments and payouts for sellers

What's next

  • Reviews and ratings system
  • Click-and-collect with time slots
  • Advanced financial dashboard for sellers
